Jessica came to Givingmas through a nomination from Exodus House, a program that had already supported her journey of recovery. A mother who had battled addiction and criminal activity, Jessica had served time and, upon release, committed herself to two years of sobriety and making positive choices.
Even with these accomplishments, her past challenges were still present. At the time of her nomination, Jessica had seven outstanding warrants across five counties, was driving without car insurance, and despite working full-time, was struggling to fully resolve her past. She lacked the confidence to face these challenges alone.
Givingmas partnered with Jessica every step of the way:
Accompanied her to all five counties and courts, helping her become warrant-free
Assisted her in obtaining car insurance
Helped her enroll full-time in school while continuing her full-time job
Supported her in obtaining her first secured credit card, which she has responsibly used and paid off in full every month for the past eight months
Last December, in partnership with Planet Ford and generous donors, replaced her dilapidated vehicle with a safe, reliable 2022 Ford Escape
Jessica is now pursuing a degree in hospitality and is on track to graduate in Spring 2026.
One of our favorite quotes from Jessica perfectly captures the impact of Givingmas:
“You know I probably could have taken care of these things on my own, but I didn’t know how and could not have done it without the guidance of Givingmas.”
This is just the beginning of Jessica’s life-changing story, and we are proud to continue supporting her as she builds a bright, stable future for herself and her family.
“Changing lives, one family at a time.”
