WHO CAN SUBMIT A NOMINATION?
The short answer is basically, anyone. Historically we have received nominations from individuals, civic groups, various shelters, houses of worship, and even self-nominations are accepted.
HOW ARE FAMILIES CHOSEN
A dedicated "selection committee" reviews all submitted nominations to verify eligibility and that the nominee meets the specific criteria.
At least one of the family members must be employed, even part-time.
Must be looking for guidance, advice, or assistance.
If substance abuse is a concern, individuals must demonstrate 24 months of continuous sobriety.
Must be looking to reach independence and self-sufficiency.
Must reside in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Please exclude any reference to ethnicity, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation, as those topics are irrelevant in our decision-making process.
How Givingmas Helps
Givingmas helps families through a program designed to foster self-sufficiency.
In the past, we have helped with a broad variety of issues, including:
Stopped evictions and helped families to regain standing with their landlord.
Helped families to obtain and maintain a vehicle for work and childcare, including gaining insurance and an up-to-date driver’s license.
Used our networking and connections with local businesses to find employment for families in need.
Worked with families with outstanding warrants and traffic fines to regain standing in the community.
Assisted families in obtaining education, through GED programs, as well as navigated financial assistance for college courses (FAFSA).
Credit repair and education, so that the families can have the tools they need to be financially successful in the future.
Minimum qualifiers for a nominee to be considered...
Our approach is to "offer a hand up, not a handout," with the intent of helping a deserving family or individual improve their quality of life.
The nominee is in a financially challenging situation, and at least one of the family members is actively employed, full or part-time.
The nominated family or individual needs guidance, advice, and/or assistance (financial or otherwise).
If there is a history of substance abuse, the nominee must verify they have been clean and sober for at least 24 months.
The family is expected to demon-strate their willing-ness to seek social independence & will be held accountable
to mutually agreed-upon commitments.
The nominated family/individual must reside in the DFW Metroplex (Dallas, TX).
*Givingmas reserves the right, without recourse, to suspend any and all support in the event a chosen nominee does not deliver on their commitments, without reasonable justification.
